Trade Copier for Prop Firms: Rules, Risks, and Setup
A trade copier for prop firms has one job: put the same trade on every funded account you own without breaking any firm's rules. That is harder than it sounds — evaluation and funded accounts carry different consistency rules, daily loss limits and drawdown models, and a copier that only mirrors entries will leave followers naked. This page covers what the major futures prop firms allow, what a copier has to do to be safe on those accounts, and how TradeDupe handles it on Tradovate.

Own-account copying is allowed
Tradeify, MFFU, Lucid, Take Profit Trader, FFF and Goat all permit copy trading between accounts you own. Copying someone else's trades or selling signals is the case that gets accounts closed.
Rules are per account, not per trader
Consistency thresholds, daily loss limits and drawdown type differ by firm and by track. The leader has to trade to the strictest account in the group.
Safety is in the copier's design
Bracket mirroring, same-direction enforcement, per-account pause and rogue-fill auto-close are what keep a stack compliant. Speed alone does not.
How This Workflow Runs
Step 1
Put every account on Tradovate
When you buy an eval or activate a funded account, choose Tradovate as the platform. Rithmic accounts cannot be copied.
Step 2
Connect and pick a leader
Add each Tradovate login to TradeDupe, mark one account as the leader and toggle the rest as followers.
Step 3
Set per-follower limits
Cap contracts per follower, restrict instruments if a firm limits them, and pause any account near a DLL or payout buffer.
Step 4
Trade the leader
Entries, exits and brackets on the leader are mirrored to every active follower in real time, same direction.
Go-Live Checklist
- • Every account in the group is on Tradovate, not Rithmic.
- • You own every account — no third-party signals, no copying for others.
- • The leader's best day stays under the tightest consistency rule in the group.
- • Position size fits the follower with the least drawdown room.
- • Followers near a daily loss limit or payout are paused, not disconnected.
- • You have read the current copy-trading rule page for each firm.
Common Mistakes To Avoid
- • TradeDupe is Tradovate-only. It does not connect to Rithmic, NinjaTrader, MetaTrader 4/5 or ProjectX accounts.
- • Entry-only copiers leave followers without a stop. Confirm bracket mirroring before funding a stack.
- • Internal hedging across your own accounts is banned at every firm listed above.
- • Consistency rules apply per account; a copier multiplies one bad pattern across the whole group.
- • Firm rules and account versions change frequently — the matrix above was last verified March 2026.
Copy trading rules by prop firm (2026)
What each firm publishes about copy trading and the evaluation rules that most affect a mirrored stack. Rules change often — verify on the firm's site; last verified March 2026.
- • Apex Trader Funding — current EOD and Intraday evaluations have no minimum trading-day requirement and no consistency rule; EOD evals have a daily loss limit that pauses the session rather than failing the account, Intraday evals have no DLL. Legacy evaluations required 7 trading days. Performance Accounts pay 100% of the first $25,000, then 90%. Rule versions overlap — confirm which account version you hold.
- • Topstep — Trading Combine: 2 minimum trading days, 50% consistency target, trailing max loss limit that locks at starting balance. TopstepX combines created after 25 Aug 2024 have no DLL; other platforms still do. Express Funded pays 90/10; the Consistency path applies a 40% rule to payouts.
- • Tradeify — copy trading allowed between your own accounts; signal services and copying others are not. Growth eval: 1 minimum day, no consistency rule, DLL as a soft breach. SELECT eval: 3 minimum days, 40% consistency, no DLL. Growth funded pays 90/10 with a 12% consistency requirement on payouts.
- • MyFundedFutures — copy trading allowed between your own accounts. Current evaluations: 2 minimum days, 50% consistency, EOD max loss, no daily loss limit. Rapid funded pays 90/10 with no funded consistency rule; Core pays 80/20 after 5 winning days. Available on Tradovate and Rithmic — use Tradovate.
- • Lucid Trading — copy trading allowed between your own eval and funded accounts. LucidPro eval: 1 minimum day, no consistency rule, DLL on 50K+ sizes. LucidFlex eval: 2 minimum days, 50% consistency, no DLL. LucidPro funded pays 90/10 with a 40% consistency check per payout cycle. Tradovate-native.
- • Alpha Futures — Standard and Advanced evals: 2 minimum days, 50% consistency, no DLL. Zero eval: no consistency rule, one-day pass allowed, DLL applies. Qualified stage: Standard and Zero carry a 40% consistency rule, Advanced does not.
- • Take Profit Trader — copy trading allowed between your own eval and PRO accounts. Evaluation: 5 minimum trading days, 50% consistency rule, EOD trailing drawdown. PRO pays 80/20 from day one; PRO+ pays 90/10. Available on Tradovate and Rithmic — use Tradovate.
- • Funded Futures Family — copy trading allowed between your own accounts. Trailing drawdown on evals that locks at a buffer on funded accounts; no published consistency percentage, payouts reviewed qualitatively. Tradovate-native.
- • Goat Funded Futures — copy trading allowed between your own eval and funded accounts. End-of-day drawdown (updates at session close only); no published consistency percentage. Tradovate-native.
What makes a copier prop-firm-safe
Prop firm accounts fail on rules, not on missed profit. A copier that gets four things right removes most of the ways a mirrored stack blows up.
- • Same-direction enforcement. Every follower is driven from one leader, so a stack can never end up long on one account and short on another. Internal hedging is the pattern firms explicitly ban.
- • Bracket mirroring. Take-profit and stop-loss are copied to every follower, along with modifications and cancels. An entry-only copier leaves ten funded accounts with no stop.
- • Per-account pause. When one account is close to its daily loss limit, or sitting on a payout buffer you do not want to touch, pause it. The rest of the group keeps trading.
- • Rogue-fill auto-close. A fill on a follower that the copier did not place — a manual click, a stale bracket leg — is detected and flattened, so a follower cannot silently diverge from the leader.
Evaluation vs funded: the leader sets the pace
Because the copier replicates the leader's P&L pattern exactly, the leader's trading has to satisfy the strictest account in the group. An outsized day on a leader with no consistency rule is the same outsized day on a follower with a 50% rule.
Two practical habits: size to the account with the least drawdown room, and pace profits so the best day stays under the lowest consistency threshold you hold. Use per-follower contract caps so a $150K leader does not overfill a $50K follower.
Monitoring the stack
Every copied fill shows up in the dashboard activity feed with the follower result, so a reject or a partial fill is visible immediately instead of at payout review. Connection health, token status and per-account pause state sit alongside it.

Generic copier vs TradeDupe on prop firm accounts
Most copiers were built for forex or for a single broker. These are the differences that matter once the accounts are funded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a trade copier allowed at prop firms?
At the major futures prop firms, yes — for copying between accounts you own. Tradeify, MyFundedFutures, Lucid Trading, Take Profit Trader, Funded Futures Family and Goat Funded Futures all state that copy trading between your own accounts is allowed, while copying another trader's fills into your accounts or running a signal service is not. Each firm publishes its own wording, so read the current rule page before you connect.
What is the best trade copier for prop firms?
The best copier for prop firms is the one that keeps every funded account inside the firm's rules, not the one with the most features. That means it must run on the platform your firm actually uses (Tradovate for most futures firms), mirror stop-loss and take-profit brackets instead of just entries, keep every account on the same side of the market, and let you pause single accounts near a daily loss limit or payout. TradeDupe is built for exactly that pattern on Tradovate. If your accounts are on Rithmic, NinjaTrader or MT5, you need a different tool.
Can I copy between an evaluation and a funded account?
Yes. The copier does not care about account stage — any Tradovate account can be the leader and any others can be followers. The practical caveat is rules: an evaluation may carry a consistency rule (for example 50% at Topstep, MFFU, LucidFlex and Take Profit Trader) that the funded account does not, so the leader's P&L pattern needs to satisfy the strictest account in the group.
How many prop firm accounts can I copy to at once?
TradeDupe does not cap the follower count. The real limit is the per-trader account limit each firm sets, which changes over time — check your firm's current rules. One leader can drive every compliant account you hold, across several firms at once, as long as they are all on Tradovate.
Does it work with Apex, Lucid, Tradeify and MFFU?
Yes, as long as the account is enabled on Tradovate. Tradeify, Lucid Trading, Funded Futures Family and Goat Funded Futures are Tradovate-native. MyFundedFutures and Take Profit Trader offer Tradovate alongside Rithmic — pick Tradovate when you open the account. Apex accounts on Tradovate connect the same way; Apex accounts on Rithmic do not.
Will the copier break my firm's consistency rule?
A copier cannot break a consistency rule on its own, but it will replicate whatever pattern the leader trades onto every follower. One outsized day on the leader becomes the same outsized day on ten accounts. Size and pace the leader so its best day stays under the tightest consistency threshold in your group.
What happens if one follower rejects an order?
Rejects do not cascade. The rejected account logs the failure and the rest of the group keeps receiving fills. TradeDupe also watches for fills on follower accounts that the copier did not place (a manual click, a stray bracket) and flattens them automatically so a follower cannot drift away from the leader unnoticed.
Do I need to keep my computer on?
No. TradeDupe runs as a hosted worker connected to Tradovate's execution-report feed. Leader fills are detected and follower orders are placed from our infrastructure, so your laptop sleeping does not stop copies.
