Prop Firm Consistency Rules Compared (October 2026)
A consistency rule is one ratio: your single best trading day divided by your total profit over the window the firm measures. If the ratio is above the firm's percentage, you cannot pass (evaluation stage) or cannot withdraw (funded stage) until more profit on other days brings it down. The percentage ranges from 20% to 55% and most firms apply it at one stage but not the other, so the plan matters more than the brand. This page lists every plan at nine futures prop firms with the rule at both stages, the math with worked examples, what a breach actually does, and how copying one leader across accounts interacts with a per-account check. Figures are from each firm's help center as of October 2026. Disclosure: we build TradeDupe, a trade copier for Tradovate accounts.
The formula
Best day ÷ total profit ≤ the firm's percentage. Rearranged: total profit needed = best day ÷ percentage. A $2,000 best day needs $4,000 at 50%, $5,000 at 40%, $5,715 at 35%, $6,667 at 30%, $10,000 at 20%.
Stage matters more than percentage
A rule during the evaluation costs you time once. A rule at payout costs you time on every withdrawal, because the window resets after each approved payout at Apex and Lucid. Plans with no rule once funded: LucidFlex, Tradeify Select, MFFU Rapid and Pro, TPT PRO, Alpha Advanced, Topstep XFA Standard path, GOAT Flex and Daily Payouts.
A breach is a gate, not a failure
At every firm on this page the consequence is a delayed pass or a held payout, not a closed account. The fix is more profit on other days at normal size; the common mistake is sizing up to fix the ratio and breaching drawdown instead.
Go-Live Checklist
- • You want the exact percentage for your plan at both stages, with the source article.
- • You booked a big day and want to know how much more profit unlocks the payout.
- • You run several accounts and want to know what a per-account check means when trades are copied.
Common Mistakes To Avoid
- • Apex: none on evaluations, 50% (30% legacy) at every PA payout request. It is not a no-consistency firm once funded.
- • The same firm can have a plan at 0% and a plan at 50%; verify the plan article, not the homepage.
- • Topstep's Combine percentage differs between its site (55%) and help center (50%).
Apex Trader Funding
No consistency rule on either evaluation. On the Performance Account, 50% at every payout request for accounts bought on or after March 1, 2026; 30% windfall rule on legacy accounts. The window is accumulated profit since the last approved payout. Payout 1 is capped at $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 / $2,500 by size, min payout $500, 5 qualifying days per payout.

What happens when you breach
At every firm above, exceeding the percentage is a gate. During an evaluation, the account stays open and you keep trading until total profit rises enough; you have not failed. On a funded account, the payout request is not approved (or at firms that pay a fraction of profit, the eligible amount shrinks) until the ratio is under the limit; the account is not closed. Apex and Lucid reset the window after each approved payout, so a big day right after a payout is the most expensive place to have one.
The dangerous response is to size up to generate the missing profit quickly. A trader with a $2,000 best day under 40% who needs $3,000 more and tries to get it in one session is now attempting a $3,000 day, which becomes the new best day and resets the problem at $7,500. The arithmetic only closes with days smaller than the best day.
How copy trading interacts with a per-account rule
Every firm checks the ratio per account. If a leader's trades are mirrored to followers at the same multiplier, each follower books the same daily P&L, so the best-day ratio is identical across the group: all accounts clear the gate on the same day or none do. Copying does not spread a big day across accounts; it repeats it on each one. With a 2x multiplier on one follower, that follower's best day and total both double and the ratio is unchanged.
TradeDupe mirrors a leader's fills, bracket TP/SL and modifications across Tradovate accounts at Apex, Lucid, Tradeify, MFFU, TPT and GOAT (FFF with written confirmation). It cannot reach Topstep or Alpha Futures, which do not offer Tradovate. It has no consistency monitor; the per-account math on this page is yours to track.
Worked examples: profit needed before payout
Total profit required for a payout request given the best day shown, under a 50% rule (Apex new PA, MFFU Builder funded) and a 40% rule (LucidPro, Alpha Zero/Standard Qualified, FFF Prime, Topstep XFA Consistency path). Formula: best day ÷ percentage.
| Feature | 50% rule | 40% rule |
|---|---|---|
| Best day $1,000 | $2,000 total; $1,000 more needed | $2,500 total; $1,500 more needed |
| Best day $1,500 | $3,000 total; $1,500 more needed | $3,750 total; $2,250 more needed |
| Best day $2,000 | $4,000 total; $2,000 more needed | $5,000 total; $3,000 more needed |
| Best day $3,000 | $6,000 total; $3,000 more needed | $7,500 total; $4,500 more needed |
| Best day $2,000, already at $3,500 total | $500 more | $1,500 more |
| Best day $2,000 at 5 sessions of $300 | $3,500 total so far; $500 more (2 more $300 days) | $3,500 total so far; $1,500 more (5 more $300 days) |
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 30% consistency rule?
A rule that no single trading day may account for more than 30% of your total profit over the window the firm measures. As of October 2026 it applies to Apex Performance Accounts bought before March 1, 2026 (the legacy windfall rule), to GOAT EOD Challenge funded accounts, to MyFundedFutures Rapid EOD evaluations (25K/50K), and to Tradeify Lightning Funded from the third payout on. A $1,500 best day under 30% needs $5,000 total profit.
What does a 40% consistency rule mean?
Your best day may not exceed 40% of total profit, so a $2,000 day needs $5,000 total. As of October 2026 it applies to LucidPro funded accounts (per payout cycle), Alpha Futures Zero and Standard Qualified accounts, Alpha Advanced evaluations, Tradeify Select evaluations, Topstep's XFA Consistency payout path, Funded Futures Family Prime, Premier+ and Velocity funded accounts, and GOAT Daily Payouts evaluations.
Which prop firms have a 50% consistency rule?
Apex Performance Accounts bought on or after March 1, 2026 (at each payout request), LucidFlex and LucidDaily evaluations, MyFundedFutures Rapid and Pro evaluations, MyFundedFutures Builder funded accounts, Take Profit Trader Test accounts (soft rule, does not fail you), Alpha Futures Standard evaluations, Funded Futures Family Premier+ Standard evaluations, and GOAT EOD Challenge and Flex evaluations. Under 50%, a $2,000 best day needs $4,000 total.
Does Topstep have a consistency rule?
During the Trading Combine, yes: your best day must stay below roughly half the profit target (topstep.com shows 55%, the help center 50%; check your dashboard). On the Express Funded Account the Standard payout path has no consistency rule, and the Consistency path caps the largest day at 40% in exchange for higher payout caps ($3,000 / $4,000 / $6,000 vs $2,000 / $3,000 / $5,000).
What is the MFFU consistency rule?
MyFundedFutures applies 50% during Rapid and Pro evaluations (30% on Rapid EOD 25K/50K) and no consistency rule once those accounts are funded. Builder is the reverse: no rule during the evaluation, 50% at payout. Rapid pays daily with a $500 minimum at 90/10; Pro has a $1,000 minimum at 80/20; Builder is 80/20.
What is the Tradeify consistency rule?
Growth: none during the evaluation, 35% on funded payouts. Select: 40% during the evaluation, none once funded on either the Flex or Daily payout policy. Lightning Funded (instant): 20% on payout 1, 25% on payout 2, 30% from payout 3 onward.
Does breaking the consistency rule fail my account?
At the firms on this page it is a gate, not a breach. During an evaluation you do not pass until more profit on other days lowers the best day's share; on a funded account the payout is not released until the ratio is under the limit. Take Profit Trader states its Test rule does not fail the account. Some firms' payout caps or minimum-day counts also apply, so read the specific article.
Does copy trading help or hurt with consistency rules?
Neither directly. The check is per account, and copying one leader to five followers at the same multiplier gives every account the same daily distribution, so all five pass or all five wait. Copying repeats a big day across accounts; it does not dilute it. TradeDupe has no feature that monitors or enforces consistency.
